In the spirit of holiday giving, we’re teaming up with City Harvest and the Daily News to conduct our inaugural holiday canned food drive. City Harvest is one of the country’s most prominent food rescue organizations, distributing millions of pounds of food yearly. As a New York-based company, we’re excited to make an impact in our home community.
And to make our impact bigger, we’ve rounded up other New York startups and small companies to join in, and we’re running a competition for the company who collects the most food. We’re excited to already be partnering with Casper, Aptible, Common, Moat, and Motivate Design. Each company has committed to 300 lbs. of food – that’s a lot of people we can help this holiday.
Through the month of December, each participating company is collecting canned goods for distribution to homeless shelters, the elderly, and thousands of New Yorkers in need. And next Tuesday, we’re sending a Buster bus around town to collect all the cans and hand out some good cheer. Once we count up the donations, on January 3rd, we’ll crown the most generous company, and award them a free bus trip for their team.
It’s an exciting time for us and great way to show off our philanthropic side. Interested in joining in? Visit City Harvest’s website to give money, and they’ll use it “to rescue food that would otherwise go to waste and get it in the hands of hungry New Yorkers.”
